MINUTES OF IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE
OF THE MISQUAMICUT FIRE DISTRICT August 9 2003 Meeting called to order at 8:30, AM 1. Attendance: Dominic Arminio, Norm Auger, Donald Goyette Absent: Bill Gonzalez, Neil Collins Guests: Mrs. Carol Melin, volunteer 2. Minutes of the July meeting were accepted as read. 3. Correspondence: None at this time 4. Delegation of Officers: Motion made and seconded and passed unanimously.
a. Vice Chairman, Neil Collins 5. Report of the Chairman b. Mr. Arminio reported that beach and parking lot landscaping has been completed and looks great. The weed removal will be completed soon. NA will contact Moderator to work on this project. c. Web page: Process is ongoing. Bill Gonzalez and the Board are working out the final details. d. Butt can trial by Mrs. Carol Melin: She reported it has been moderately successful. People are actually using them. She will continue to acquire and paint more containers for next year. 6. Report made by NA on our representation of MFD Improvement Committee before Town Council in opposition to the change in the "outdoor entertainment ordinance". Neil Collins read the Moderator's Letter in his absence and also made his personal comments on his opposition. Also NA made our presentation as well as his own personal comments. He stated we need more people to appear at these Council meetings, especially registered voters in our district. The change did not pass due to our opposition as neighbors. 7. Sale of "tee shirts": Mrs. Melin reported on the possibility of having shirts made and sold at the September 5th Steak Fry with proceeds going to Improvement Committee's budget for district landscaping. A motion made by NA 2nd by DG, asking Moderator for permission to conduct this sale. Passed unanimously. 8. No Parking I Tow zone signs: Motion made by DG to request Board to obtain new signs from Town to replace " damaged and removed" signs in our district. Seconded by NA, passed unanimously. 9.
