Items
- Beach Closing – Benson Ave. beach will be open on weekends through September. For other beaches, the walkways have been rolled up and entrances piled up with sand. Lifeguard chairs were removed and signs put away for the winter.
- Review of Summer Season – The season went relatively well. Original beach manager was released and Pam took over. Life guards need to be better oriented as do beach house employees.
- Restroom Status – Pete has new plans that will be presented to the District Officers. The Benson Ave. restrooms will be modified to address handicap needs and install stall doors. The inside needs to be painted along with new lighting, floor material, and sink. For Lawton Ave we need stall doors, painting, and floor covering. This will be done over the winter so the restrooms can be opened in the spring.
- Crandall and Shore - A letter was mailed to Washington Trust asking them to sponsor the traffic island planting at one entrance to the District. If there is no response we will seek other sponsors. The town will help us prepare the site for plantings.
- Web Page – Billy has the site on a limited view site and is working with Pete to get it up and running for next season.
- Dune replenishment – Michele Vacca is our resource for the project and Carol is in contact with her. Our window for planting is April 1 – 15 2004. We will need volunteers to help with the planting.
- Dunes and fences – The remainder of the snow fence repair will take place in the off season. Need signs to keep people off the dunes.
- Butt Cans – Carol showed a bag of butts she collected in a short period of time. She will collect cans and prepare them for the season.
- Garbage dumpster at Benson Ave – Our dumpster along with the fence, must be moved from the street side of the parking lot back to the dune side. This is for aesthetic and health purposes and to prevent people from throwing garbage into the dumpsite.
- Fall Plantings – Need to plant Chrysanthemums in the landscape and barrels.
- Standardize District signs – We need to design common signs for our beaches.
