MINUTES OF FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING
OF THE
MISQUAMICUT FIRE DISTRICT

October 4, 2005

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Captain Stephen Howard. The meeting minutes from the September 6, 2005 meeting were read. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the meeting minutes. The Treasurer reported a balance of $ 10,923.68, of which $ 6496.43 is in the contingency fund. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the Treasurer’s Report.

Chief Misto: Thanks to all who helped with the steak fry. 2 or 3 members are requested to help with the Guy Fawkes bonfire on October 8th. CPR certificates are available after the meeting.

Deputy Chief Findeisen: No report.

Deputy Chief Turnberg: No report.

Training Officer Mike Misto: There will be ladder training at a house on Link’s Passage, Sunday 10-2. Hose testing on 202 to be done in near future.

Committee Reports: Banquet Committee, no report; Incentive Committee, no report; Steak Fry Committee, will report later; Nominating Committee reports as follows; The Nominating Committee recommends the following:

Election proceeded, no nominations off of the floor, acting secretary cast a single ballot for all positions.

Communications: None

Unfinished Business: The soda machine cost $300. Money from the kitchen fund was used. It will pay for itself over time.

New Business: Justin Sposato was accepted as a probationary junior member. Fire Department funds will be used for electric cord reels to come off the bay ceiling as well as for an outdoor water spigot.

Remarks for the Good of the Department: The Columbus Day parade is this month. A motion was made and seconded to raise the steak fry ticket price. Floor discussion contributed an alternate suggestion of lowering the ticket price to $10. It was voted on and approved to raise the price to $15. A motion was made and seconded to and approved to spend $700 for more new tables. Doug thanked all who helped at the steak fry. The Chief needs input for new equipment purchases. There is still open money for use in the kitchen, suggestions? The Chief thanked Doug for all his efforts towards the steak fry.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 PM.
