MINUTES OF FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING
OF THE
MISQUAMICUT FIRE DISTRICT

November 1, 2005

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Captain Stephen Howard. The meeting minutes from the October 4, 2005 meeting were read. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the meeting minutes. The Treasurer reported a balance of $10,373.03, of which $8,975.72 is in the contingency fund. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the Treasurer’s Report.

Chief Misto: Flooding has been an issue. Thanks to all who helped at the structure fire at the Atlantic Beach Park pool house. Turnout was good and everyone did a good job. We will be getting new SCBA masks and will have fit testing for them. Will be going away for a week, Chief Findeisen and Chief Turnberg will be in charge.

Deputy Chief Findeisen: Everyone did a good job at the fire. Lt. Misto has been doing a good job as training officer.

Deputy Chief Turnberg: SCBA’s on trucks have not been being properly replaced by the members at FF1 class. All members should check them when in station.

Training Officer Mike Misto: We will have a mystery instructor this month. Sunday the 13th is scheduled for pump training at the State Beach.

Committee Reports: Banquet Committee; possibly will have a party for members with spouse/girlfriend on second weekend of December, no outside guests will be invited. Sunshine Committee; need to get something for Ed Morenzoni. Incentive Committee; no report.

Communications: A thank you letter was received from Joe and Alice Visgilio along with a $50 donation for pumping out for the basement.

Unfinished Business: The fan on the roof is running.

New Business: we have an application for a new senior member, Jeff Muir. A motion was made, seconded and approved to spend $700 for a new portable pump out of the contingency or equipment fund. A motion was made, seconded and approved to spend $1000 for the childrens Christmas party and related expenses. The party is on the 11th. Gifts will be wrapped after the next monthly meeting.

Remarks for the Good of the Department: we should try to have the floor finished before the Christmas party. Chief Misto thanks to all who helped to paint the meeting room, it looks very good. Lt.’s Misto and Howard requested the secretary send a letter of thanks for being allowed to join in dive training with the Richmond/Carolina Fire Department dive team.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:21 PM.
