MINUTES OF FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING
OF THE
MISQUAMICUT FIRE DISTRICT

April 4, 2006

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Captain Stephen Howard. The meeting minutes from the March 7, 2006 meeting were read. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the meeting minutes. The Treasurer reported a balance of $6942.18, of which $6221.09 is in the contingency fund. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the Treasurer's Report.

Chief Misto: The SCBA's have been flow tested. New SCBA's have been purchased. Last night's Southern League meeting discussed an increase in our accidental death & disability insurance. FEMA grant application will be in by the end of the week, asking for funds for a complete airpak upgrade. Thanks to all who helped burn the brush piles off of Winnapaug Rd. There will be a Blessing of the Fire the Saturday before Easter at St. Clare's. The Fire Department presence has been requested. Thanks to everyone who was here for the last work night, it was very productive. Where should we hang the former Chief's photos? (Discussion followed, including request for photo of the current chief, tabled for future discussion). There are calendars, JC Penney coupons, and Paw Sox tickets available for all.

Deputy Chief Findeisen: No report.

Deputy Chief Turnberg: No report.

Training Officer Mike Misto: We will train with fire hose and water streams this month. We will go to the State Beach parking lot in the first training Tuesday. The former Whip and Dip building is being demolished and may be available for training use for a very short period, members will be notified if and when available.

Committee Reports: Banquet Committee: The pasta dinner at Venice went very well. The Chief thanked the owners on behalf of us all and discussed a few concerns of the committee members with them. The appetizers were donated to us from the owners. Fundraising Committee: Discussed fundraising goals and decided best to set a certain goal for any funds to be raised. Will have more discussion on goals and bring to members at a future meeting. By-Law Committee: Have copies of revisions for all members, please review changes and see any committee member with any questions you have. We will vote on changes at next meeting. Deputy Chief Findeisen made a motion to wave any discussion of the by-law revisions at next meeting before they are voted on and to vote for all changes as presented. There was a second but the motion was defeated.

Communications: Received letters of Resignation from two members, Sam Homsi and Justin Sposato, for personal reasons. Deputy Chief Findeisen made a motion to accept both letters. There was a second and the motion was approved.

Unfinished Business: None.

New Business: Discussion on getting a formal photograph of our current chief. The subject was continued for future discussion.

Remarks for the Good of the Department: Phil Panciera spoke with Phil Siniscalco, he is doing well and said to say hello to all. He passed along his thanks for the plaque we sent him. Chief Misto: Thanks to all who helped with the Pasta Bar dinner at Venice. Please take some time and review the proposed By-Law revisions, the committee put in a lot of time and did a good job.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:34 PM.
