MINUTES OF FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING
OF THE
MISQUAMICUT FIRE DISTRICT

June 6, 2006

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Captain Stephen Howard. The meeting minutes from the May 2, 2006 meeting were read. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the meeting minutes. The Treasurer reported a balance of $10,549.59, of which $6,221.09 is in the contingency fund. A motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the Treasurer's Report.

Chief Misto: : First of all we did a great job at the fire in Watch Hill. It went very well. There was a little radio confusion. The juniors also did very well. Summer time traffic is here, please drive carefully. The district annual meeting is Saturday; we need to clean in preparation for it. We should also show off the new fire truck. Please be here at 8am to help out. The new Scotts are on the trucks.

Deputy Chief Findeisen: No report.

Deputy Chief Turnberg: The pager and radio inventory is almost completed.

Training Officer Mike Misto: We should send Martins a letter of thanks for the use of their facility for training purposes. We will be having boat safety training this month.

Committee Reports: Sunshine Committee; everyone ok, we sent a bouquet to Marty's widow. Phil tried calling her, but was unable to reach her. Fundraising Committee; there will be a carwash in August, either the 6th or the 13th. A motion was made, seconded and approved to allocate $100- for supplies. Incentive Committee; the program was discussed at the last district monthly meeting; the three tier system was modified with a larger incentive at the top and a smaller incentive at the bottom. Beach access was added but a member only need be a member in good standing to qualify.

Communications: None.

Unfinished Business: Jared Gingerella was accepted as a junior member after completing his 6 months probation.

New Business: We have applications from three new members, Bill Davis Sr., Bill Davis Jr., and Tom Jasylavic. We also reactivated former member Tom Stillman.

Remarks for the Good of the Department: Louis; the whistle is going off again at noontime. Todd; There will be a dinner for Eddie at the Andrea next Tuesday at 7pm. Cocktails at 6:30pm. On June 15th there will be an appreciation night at Paddys for Firefighter and Police Officers. There will also be a car show on the same night. Doug; Questions regarding the inclusion of beach access to the incentive program. District board assures us that beach access will not be part of incentive program. Todd; everyone did a great job at the Watch Hill fire, including the juniors, as well as new member, Bill Davis Sr., training is obviously paying off. Kparr; We should have ID cards for members, he had difficulty getting on scene at the Watch Hill fire. The police department is set up to make ID's for us; we just need to have pictures taken. Todd will look into this matter.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:29 PM.
